On a cold and dark night, a small lizard-like creature was walking down a beaten trail, all alone with only a small fire lighting its way; the fire was actually sprouting from its own tail. The little being sniffled quietly to himself as he moved, seemingly lost. "Stupid path.. I knew it was the wrong way.." he muttered, pausing to look at where he was now and considered turning back. But as his gaze wandered he soon realized that he was even more lost than he had thought; even the way he came was unfamiliar to his eyes. Nervousness soon turned to panic and before he knew it, he was running and crying out helplessly, "What is going on?! What happened to the path?!" He ran as fast and far as his little legs could carry him, trying to escape from the dark that appeared to distort his surroundings. Eventually, the poor creature grew so tired from fleeing he lost consciousness.

The fire on the creature's tail flickered dimly, his breath heavy with exhaustion. He remained motionless, too scared and tired to do much else. A silent figure approached the still life form, its head tilted curiously. "Hey... Are you alright?" the figure asked, stopping only a handful of feet away from the lizard. The orange colored being's head shot up upon hearing the voice. His eyes grew wide and his maw dropped open when he saw the one who asked the question.. He wasn't even touching the ground!

In fact, the questioner looked something like a hooded specter that wore a skull for a mask. The garb it wore was tattered and ragged, seeming to flow with the wind. A little red orb was positioned in the center of the skull's right eye socket and it "blinked" at the lizard's physical reaction. Before the ghostly creature could ask a second time, it was cut-off by an explosion of life from the worn out being, "Who are you? Where am I? How did you find me? What happened? Are you going to eat me?!" He cried out, almost to the point of shouting as he whipped around, frantically scanning the surroundings before looking back up to the frightening figure.

The ghostly form simply floated in place, observing the terrified little creature as it began to tear up again, obviously fearing for his very life. Quietly, the cloaked creature lowered itself to face the other being while trying to appear not so intimidating. It spoke softly and responded to the cowering lizard's questions, "My name.. Is Crois. You have gotten yourself into a dark part of the Western forest.." He placed his robed arm against his forehead and paused, trying to recall the rest, "Um.. I heard someone scream and followed after.. Turns out it was you. You've been unconscious for a good hour now.. I was starting to worry." Crois extended his ghostly hand to the still wide-eyed scaley, "And what may I call you, friend?"

It took a second for the little guy to realize he wasn't in any mortal danger. Slowly, he extended a paw and shook hands with Crois..Well, as best as you can shake hands with a ghost. "M-my name is Luca.." he whimpered, still slightly scared at the fact he was talking with some dead creature, "...So, I take it you aren't going to eat me, huh?" Luca smiled weakly at his own statement, hoping that the specter wasn't just playing friendly.

Crois blinked again and suddenly began to laugh, "Eat you? Why would I want to do that?" He rose back up into the air, twirling as he did so, the tattered edges of his robe following suit. They swayed gracefully and came to a slow stop as the apparition stilled himself, looking back down to Luca with an apparent grin showing.

Luca stammered as he fumbled with his words, beginning to become afraid again. The fire on his tail flickered abnormally; the random movements were thanks to his nerves. "W-well.. I don't know!" he yelped, apparently failing to act unafraid, "I'm just scared.. It's so dark out here, I have no idea how I got here, I am talking to a ghost.. I want to just be home.." He sniffled and sank to his knees, looking up helplessly at Crois. Slowly, he wrapped his tail around his front and hugged onto it, the dim light from the flame was the only real comfort he had.

The ghost lowered his head and frowned at seeing Luca so scared. He remained silent and thought, wanting to help him get back to his home. "Hey.. Can I show you something? It may help make you a bit less afraid of this dark.." Luca blinked and peeped out at Crois from behind his tail, he squeaked as he asked, "What could help?" Crois chuckled a bit at the curiosity and once again moved in front of Luca.

Crois presented his black robed arms and held them before Luca, like a magician shows the audience that there isn't an Ace up his sleeve. Luca tilted his head and his tail slipped out from his paws' grasp. But he didn't mind that for he was keeping his eyes trained on the ghost, afraid he might miss something. Then, out of thin air, a small purple orb began to take shape, right in between Crois's two outstretched arms. The ball pulsed and bobbed in the air, slowly increasing in size until it was about the general dimensions of a baseball. Luca was captivated by this and his expression was one of awe. Just when he opened his maw to comment, a flame burst out of the center of the orb, engulfing it completely. The light now radiating from this shadowy ball was able to dispel the darkness surrounding the two. Luca let out a surprised gasp upon seeing this and looked all around; the frightening atmosphere was no more.

Luca jumped up excitedly and watched the ball of purple fire as Crois juggled it around, the tails of fire were dancing wildly from the movements. The ghost laughed and held the fire out to the small lizard, "You see..? There isn't anything to be afraid of if you can just see the light." He turned away from Luca and looked at a pathway that should seem familiar. "Now, how about we get you home, hm?" The specter's head turned back, awaiting a reply. Nodding slowly, Luca chirped, "You'll come with me?"

"Of course I will, my friend. Of course I will." Crois smiled back to Luca and they both started down the pathway. The sun began to shimmer on the horizon as the two moved, leading them to a new dawn and the start of a new friendship.

Now, if any of you stomached through this story of mine, congrats! I couldn't help but write it after finishing this picture. In case you don't know, the ghost Crois is a Duskull and the lizard Luca is a Charmander.

Comments are welcome, tell me what you think. I am hoping, if my story is good enough, I could write more on pictures such as this.

Anyways, hopefully you all enjoyed!
